Law Firm

Hello Direct Heirs,

I guess many of you have now heard about a law firm that's offering to work with some of the family members. While sticking by our policy of not endorsing any particular attorney or law firm, we do feel that this law firm is of merit and is doing a decent effort at trying to offer their skills where possible. However, they are still a 3rd party and like all 3rd parties, their own business interest will come first so make sure that you are all business and focus on what they have to offer and what your needs are. Remember that they aren't the only attorneys in the world. Keep that in mind when talking with them no matter how attractive their pitch is.

One thing we must caution everyone on when dealing with any attorney's or 3rd parties in general: READ AND GET UNDERSTANDING BEFORE YOU SIGN ANY CONTRACT!!!
If anyone is trying to rush you into signing anything then that's all the more reason to be careful and ask more questions.

If you want to talk to representatives from this law firm then here's the contact info:

Brewer Law Group
5201 N. O'Connor Blvd
Fifth Floor
Irving, Texas 75039-3768

Office: (972) 870-9898
Fax: (972) 870-9053

Judge Faith Johnson is the representative who is mainly speaking with the family. Here's a link about her background: http://www.dallasbar.org/judiciary/profiles.asp?item=54

A meeting is supposed to be held with Faith Johnson on Thursday of this week, 8-30-07. Now this meeting is ONLY for direct heirs or other family members authorized by direct heirs to attend. The only ones that are allowed to contractually agree with this law firm are direct heirs.

I don't understand why you are getting these attorneys’ that have no background in the Oil and land industries. If you ask me you are setting yourself up to be had.

Formally Judge Faith Johnson has a background in criminal cases and not oil. Why would you hirer a criminal lawyer?

Hello jfounta,

#1) Please re-read the post again. We aren't endorsing this law firm as the "official" law firm for the family.

#2) This law firm does have someone on staff that does have a background in oil and gas.

#3) No matter what type of judge you deal with, they still have legal weight that attorneys don't possesses. Attorney's (no matter what their specialty is) have to go through channels that judges can avoid because of their position.

4) She still has judicial powers although she isn't a sitting judge any longer.

I think a correction may be needed regarding the statement of :No matter what type of judge you deal with, they still have legal weight that attorneys don't possesses. Attorney's (no matter what their specialty is) have to go through channels that judges can avoid because of their position.

I dont think that is true- a Judge has to be an attorney in order to be elected as judge. Out of the appointed position of Judge the attorney is just an attorney as long as he abides by state bar ethical codes. By law he should not have any power in making rules and cant bypass channels unless it is meant to be like as in favors which is virtually impossible at the level of this case. Keep in mind she was at the state level The only Judges that have power forever are those on the supreme court because they have to die in order to loose their position.

The reason this case was rejected from the Supreme Court was because the case was not prepared and presented correctly.

The reason for suggesting an Oil and Gas attorney is not for bypassing channels but specific knowledge that he has regarding issues of exact parameters for the situation. There are no leaps and bounds to going around etched in stone processes of the federal judicial system.

Oh and if you all are not endorsing an attorney isnt it biased to post and suggest this particular attorney?
